Resolution Problem

Ok,so i was messing about with my resolution in game,and set it to the highest possible option.now i cant get on cs.when i do it comes up a message and a black screen.can someone help me to change it NOT in game please.

Right click on counter strike in the steam games menu, press properties and then launch options. There you type -w 800 -h 600, that should work...

First check if your monitor can play on a high(er) resolution.
Because when I play CSS it also gives me the same thing.

You get that because your monitor can't handle the Hertz.
