Ping problem Empty Ping problem

Post by Lumí Sun Aug 01, 2010 6:57 pm

Anybody know any tricks how to make ping normal? Been really weird now that I got my computer back. Behaving like fps: when I look during a game at certain direction like across the whole map the ping goes nuts but if I just stare at my feet for example it's normal (like fps usually). I wasn't downloading anything and cut the connection to other computers off as well. Haven't had this kinda problem before (at least don't remember) and I really doubt I keep playing cs if can't fix it. So if somebody knows something that might help I'm open to suggestions.

EDIT: Yay, post number 300.

sps should have the solution.

The fps problem could be that you need to update your graphics card drivers.

If you wanna know what the things does, and maybe find something that you wanna change.. go look at this guide lumi

http://nokitel.co.uk/optimize-counter-strike-16-rates/

Its either your FPS or your Rates.

But do as SpS Said, and see if that works.

I could help you maybe, this happened to me weeks ago and I had the same exact problem.

System information

Provide your current system information after you got your computer back. It "might" be that your Graphics card is not supportive anymore

Hardware

Please include, your RAM, Graphics card, CPU and CPU/GPU temperatures. And any other details that might give you troubles.

(To find most of this info, Start > Run > dxdiag)

Version

Try and find out what version of Windows you are running, including 32 or 64 bit

If you are using nvidia you can update your drivers here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Not using nvidia? Then I can give link for other drivers

I would guess your drivers is outdated or as Sps stated, your rates! or even if you messed with your drivers some time ago, I would think it could also be that you have Vsync on. To turn Vsync off: Go to desktop, right click -> properties, screen options, or optionally "your screens name" -> Advanced option -> Manage 3D settings. Just a reminder that this goes from computers to computers.

edit: I totally missread your problem, I though you had FPS drop problem, but this ping problem Ive got no idea

1. Software failure (do what sps said or return your .cfg's to stock).
2. Search if your system has an infection.
3. Defragmenting your disk restores the data to its maximum fetching performance
4. Drivers may be old try checking for updates.
5. Your RAM is having its final days or you have in time expanded your system memory need (this can happen automatically), check how much your system is using RAM when playing CS (+95% get more RAM).
6. Hardware failure - Some failures dont show any info to you, but if you cant find solution from any of above, it is highly possible you need to get it repaired or call a good friend who knows how to track uninformed hardware failures.
You can try doing this by our own to try figure out if the PC rly has hardware problems.
Get program that stresses RAM to its max and put it running for night and in the morning check if your PC has shutdown
Get program that stresses GPU -||-
Get program that stresses CPU and motherboard -||-

Or ask Agito, Mati or me connect remotely to your PC and have a look. <- I suggest this if you cannot find anything of the above useful or are too hard for you to do.

Humm so much stuff to be checked..

Humm I got

Radeon x1950 pro
3Gb ram
intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40GHz 3.36GHz
Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit

I don't know if those console commands helped but at least my ping isn't as crazy anymore as it used to. I got quick lap pikes though every second. It's different than last time. Like ping going up and coming back down real fast. Happens pretty much every second. Isn't usually too bad to play but kinda annoying anyways. Hum and yea, I use net_graph 3 always, that's how I see the ping fluctuations. Cs used to work just fine and didn't even have to instal it again. Maybe windows 7 is doing something in the background all the time that causes it. Ohh and I got a broken dvd player (at least my friend said it was acting real weird) so I'm gonna change that to a new one ( maybe that'll help). My friend is good with computers and I'm sure all drivers are up to date.

Well, I'm not gonna be able to play for a while soon anyways so not that bad if can't fix this right now.
