If some of you guys been thinking of maybe learning to play guitar or piano but got no idea where to start or maybe just wanna ask about some specific guitar technique or perhaps something related to sheet music and notation then this thread is for you! I've been playing guitar for many years and been in 2 bands so I know a trick or two what it comes to guitar playing. We did a few bar gigs and performed in school also (good times). Been playing piano too for about 2-3 years. I'm completely self-taught. Never took any lessons even though being self-taught is not really an advantage but it's possible to learn to play without having to take expensive lessons. I will be your teacher and you can ask anything related to the topic ^^ I'll do my best to answer. Would also be great to know how many of you guys play guitar or piano or some other instrument. I think this forum lacks "Serious Business" section and if there was such thing I would have written this there.

I tried making a gitar from wood once, but it didnt really make any sound, i guess i forgot to make it hollow from the inside

I used to play a bit of guitar. I googled for tabs and used a program called power tab. It really worked great...

How can u make a guitar hollow??? Do you just make it all empty of wood inside or what...

If you got the money to pay for lessons then you should do it but make sure that when you are done with the basic newbie stuff, you get personal lessons 'cos that's where the real teaching will happen. By the way, you guys got a guitar already? Acoustic / electric? What kinda music do you wanna learn to play?

I use Guitar Pro 5. Basically a lot better version of Power Tab Editor but it's not free like Power Tab

Well, never tried building a guitar but I think the easiest guitar to build is a Stratocaster-type electric guitar. You just make the body and you can buy the rest from a manufacturer and stores and put it together. Don't even dream about making the neck yourself before you are way more experienced with working on wood and I bet you're kinda newbie in that kinda things Ely :]

I went to expensive privat lessons for 3 years and it got boring so I quit. Now I learn from youtube, and ive learnd more in 3 months than 3 years with privat lessons. youtube is great guitar is something ive always wanted to learn, im just not sure about this lessons.

Great to hear you like playing guitar <3 These other male geekos here don't understand how amazing it is ^^
There is always the danger in teaching yourself that you might use wrong techniques to play something and get frustrated 'cos you can't learn. And you're also missing a lot of theory when you don't go a private teacher. You like it or not but music theory makes you understand music a lot better. Even I'm still basically studying a lot of music theory basics. PM me or write in here if you want to know something or you are stuck with some song or anything, I try to help ^^

Lol.. i was playing it to fast whit my mouth... then suddenly i see blood on my harmonica.. I lookedi the mirror.. and i see 1 long cut in my lip... after that i didnt play it for 2 years
