Server Lag / Proposed Action / Donations?

Heya,

We recently moved to a new (physical) server (CS1, CS2, CS3, CS4, CS5, CS6). This ran quite well for a while, but now seems to be having major problems with lag when busy...

The old (physical) server was being used to run the neonDragon.net CSX servers like climb etc. -- I've now picked this (physical) server up from the datacentre as I'm not paying for it to be there any more.

The OLD server was lagging because of insufficient CPU power. I changed to the new server to have more CPU power available. The new server is lagging because instead it doesn't have enough RAM (less than the old one)...

I'm currently thinking about moving CS1-6 back onto the OLD server, except running from my apartment instead of a proper datacentre. The new server that all the CS servers is running on is also running playevo.com -- the memory problem is so bad that playevo.com is actually slowing down as well. playevo.com pays far more for the server in donations than VIP purchases do... and that's why I'm considering moving the CS servers out of the datacentre. To move them to my apartment, the IP address would have to change, which is VERY bad, as this means everyone has to re-add to their favourites.

The other option is that I ask for donations from the neondragon community here. If we have enough donations, we can get a proper server or two (or many!) that is capable of running our CS servers without lag, and put more servers online like the KA server again. I think that this would be pretty cool.

So, I'd like to ask, are there people here willing to donate? Either one off donations, or £x/€x per month. I've put a lot of my own money and resources into this, and indeed I can keep the servers running with the current lag issues, but if there were more people helping out financially, then we could make this community far far better.

The current (laggy) server is costing about £60/month. With more money, we can firstly stop the current servers lagging. Then we can get more servers. Then we can get servers in different games.

Please post thoughts and offers of lots of cash and/or (server grade) equipment here.

I think i could be able to pay like 9£ a month, Im currently studying
so my income isnt that high.. but anythning is better than nothing right?

And since that would be like 1/6, and 9£ isnt that much for a single person, for that amount you could get like 2 pizzas
or 2 pack of ciggarettes, so why waste it on that? use it on nD to make it better

Count me in. I think I could conjure up like 20 euro a month initially... Can you give us the lowdown on how to pay etc ?

I guess if my mom allows me i could donate 10 euro a month..
used to pay the same for games as WoW and Runescape so yeah why not pay it for the beloved CS servers.

Even I've bought vip for a year I still are willing to donate more money. Do you know how much we need to get a better server??? I also think us members should do more to get new vips.

I've thought about if it could be an idea if we had same kind of system as we had on the other servers I've been admin on. It was that all who paid a certain amount of money towards the server, had a reserved slot which means they could join whenever they wanted to and didn't have to wait for a free slot. System is that "none paying" players will get kicked if server is full, when a paying member wants to play. Some servers kick the highest pingers, others the one who joined last and others those who had played longest time.

I know it might be too hard to make reserved slot for all vip's on all servers but maybe it would be possible that the player just chose their fav. server and got reserved slot for that.... just an idea!!
