[Tutorial] Basics of a deathrun map
Well i guess everyone who has tryed to map has attempted to make a deathrun and its not worked well im going to tell you how to make basic stuff
Ok first if you want a breakable floor at the start make the platform where it breaks and make a solid platform around it tie the breakable to func_breakable name it and make a button and set its target to what you named it to
After that you might see the doors that you have to jump around so create your 2 solids what will open tie them both to func_door (do 1 at a time or it will not work) name it and change the yaw (on the right) to the direction if you want it to close in 3 secs change the delay before close to 3 and if you want it to kill them change the damage when blocked to 200 if you want it to stay open change delay before close to -1 and make a button and change its target to what you named it to
You might then run into a corner which break so to do that make a func_breakable and change the flag to touch
There might then be a spinny platform to make thoose make a solid can be any shape make it hollow Ctrl + H make the wall thickness 2 and put a small origin in the texture in the middle so it spins around it select the origin and the solid tie it to func_door_rotating change the degree (180 degrees = 1 spin/ 90 = half spin etc..) and if you want it to revers direction go to the flags and select it, give it a name make a button and set the target to its name
Next you might see a block where you can stand in 1 place and not die for that you create the solid and you can make it so 1 player will survive or not tie it to func_door and change the yaw to down (do not make it face up click the arrow it should say up and down) and cahnge delay before close to like 5 secs and damage if blocked to 200 incase someone crouches or something give it a name make a button and set the target to the name you made
Next you might get a pole that rotates you make it and give it a texture make it hollow Ctrl + H make the wall thickness 2 put a origin so it spins around it (the length of it ) tie it to func_door_rotating change the degree (180 degrees = 1 spin/ 90 = half spin etc..) and if you want it to revers direction go to the flags and select it, give it a name make a button and set the target to its name
Next you might get blocks that move e.g. spam traps you make the solids tie all of one side to func_door and change the yaw to left or right make the other one change its yaw to left or right (the opposite direction of the other) give them the same name and make a button and put its same name as the target
next oyu will be finishing your map so you need guns which is armoury_entity change the item and your done
next if you dont know how to make buttons get a button texture make a sqaure or rectangle and tie it to func_button no name needed just give it a target and change the flag to dont move
hope you enjoy
