Hard for somebody that are minority in gaming world?

Hi all.
I dont know how you think about this, but I´ve seen that in many places of gaming world, online, cs, l4d2 and much more games. What Im speaking about is when you are a girl playing, then its considered as a minority , because all others are boys. I just want to share some thoughts about how I have seen in the servers I play the games, not only CS, that it must be so F hard to be a girl in few games without getting attacked by words or other that flirts. What do u think? I know many girls in the gaming world that always use to be attacked as fast they got their name which can be understood that it is a girl playing. Then suddenly you see whole the serverchatt spammed by some idiots asking about her privatelife and want to meet her, even if he never saw her or knows who the F she is ?

My explanation to this is that some people are behaving like they have been closed in a room for 10 years, unable to see a girl or to talk to a girl, only boys in that room. After this 10 years when he comes out, as fast you see a girl on internet without kowing how she is, good/bad looking. kind/idiot and many other things they start like they just want that girl , doesnt care how she is. Like you are in the desert and you see a kind of soda that u never in your life drank, because it tasted sooo bad that u maybe was ready to vomit, but now you are able to drink 10 liters of it, just because of the thirst. Strange ha?

We often talk about equality , and when I was in the second class we used to be teached that its nothing wrong to be a girl if you are 5 other boys, she is a human too, she is like you. So why make big tention, why should this hapend to a girl? Because that idiots that wants her msn, webcam/steam or what else, I think that they never seen a girl or are so bad looking that they can hide their self when they talk via internet.

I dont care about if its a girl or boy, if I can teamwork good with this person its okay, if I cant, go away, even if its a girl, I dont give extra kind treatments or anything. Coman people, you got a lot of girls around you, just watch out from the window, you are not living on planet Mars

Means,
If you give big tention to girls they will think that they are something bigger than boys OR they will feel insulted of what words we use against them and both of this results that you lose your gaming desire.

If a girl starts to tell her life, or if we boys starts to ask massive questions that will destroy the gaming.

Well yeah but there aint much to do about it, you cant ban girls from the internet and as long as there are boys without girlfriends or even with girlfriends! there will be girls being harrased on the internet.
There's not really a way to stop it.

Maybe not for all girls because they are used, as Suvi, and she is 18+ I bet, so she maybe have experienced to get attacked with words... I dont know

Florent I just want to comment on the flirting part:

I treat girls in game no different from in real life. (Apart from being a shy fuck irl which I am not safely behind me monitor :> )
It's only natural for a guy to flirt with a girl, wether its inside a game or not..

Flirting with girls is something I like doing when the girl plays along, if they don't then I just drop it obviously... It's just a matter of having fun with the people you play with. Just like I joke around with guys I also flirt around with girls just like I would do if I were to meet them outside the game.

I don't see why things should change just because we are in a 'wargame' environment, and I seriously don't get your comparison with flirting with a girl having a heartattack? It's a game, you do it for relaxation. Flirting you do in your freetime, also in a time of relaxation. I don't see how this is a wrong place to flirt around a bit. As I said before: It's a matter of having fun. Flirting is fun for both participants 99% of the time. As long as it stays within the flirting area, which on the internet, often jumps to sexual harassment sadly...

Anyway. Girls should be treated no different in a game from in real life. Just because they are outnumbered doesn't mean we suddenly have to show more respect for them simply because they are women and in the minority, it doesn't mean taht they shouldn't be treaten like you would treat any girl you would meet on the streets, and it doesn't mean that they should be harassed or bullied either.
Just act like a normal human being and it's all fine, in whatever environment you are in.

On the Internet people can be anonymous, so they can be complete idiots and not face any consequences. You can take on a completely different identity and many people do so, and I believe a lot of these horny little boys take this chance since they are to lame to do it IRL.

Look at me for example. I'm a complete asshole on the internet, harassing both girls and boys ALL the time. IRL I'm not at all like that. I'm much worse!

It's the internet -- there were and always will be trolls out there.

Problem is solved just by ignoring (muting) for sexual harassment; most threats on the internet are baseless anyways -- call it empty threat if you will. Moreover, problems like this exist in real life, not just to girls, but can be exhibited to anyone in general on the basis of age, race, sexuality, etc.

Sure there requires some sympathy, but there really isn't anything that can be done really. These people just simply exist, plain as that.

By the way, these cases happen in the real world -- job hiring, school admission, etc.
If they can't handle stuff on the internet, I seriously think they should pop their bubble and prepare for the real world.

You don't play cs to fight a war in all seriousness, atleast, most people don't. You do it to relax and have fun.

You know, I met a wonderful girl over a mmorpg. She was fun, smart and sweet. And what it seemed like, she thought the same about me. So I took one more step further of what we had.
I'm not sure but I'd call that flirting with a girl on a mmorpg. Not any difference than a wargame in this argument.
So in other words, I don't agree with your statement that I quoted. Peoples can meet in more than just dating websites.
