White is not a color, black is

• Black is the lack of all colors of light, or an exhaustive combination of multiple colors of pigment. So the more the object can absorb light the darker it will look and if you combine some color pigments the result will be black also.
  

• Objects are white when they reflect all parts of color spectrum equally or at least no part is reflected significantly more than others. You can also create an impression of white light by mixing right intensities of primary colors of light (red, green, blue).

In practice black and white can be considered colors but if you wanna get really scientific then you don't have to call them colors but they can be colors too.

And different colors fit different things. I don't want my piano to be green but it's a good color for hiking clothes. So I don't really have a favorite color.
